2021 WCA Convention

2021 CONVENTION MESSAGE FROM THE WCA PRESIDENT

Our 30th anniversary convention is in the books and was a huge success! All of the members had a great time and I think it was arguably the most action-packed and enjoyable convention we have ever had. Getting a personal tour of the new Weatherby headquarters from Adam and Brenda Weatherby themselves didn’t hurt anything either! That was the highlight of the trip for me (and I’m assuming for most of us). I say it every year, but really, if you haven’t joined us for a convention yet, you need to!

Adam and Brenda spent about 4 hours with us that day. They gave an overview of their new operations starting in their showroom and then we headed out to the production floor to see where they make the rifles and assemble them. We even got to see their ammunition loading room (which has been quite busy this year) and then we headed down into their underground 100-yard and 300-yard shooting ranges.

After the tour it was “show-and-tell” time where members got to bring some of their own prized Weatherby firearms inside and share with Adam. I was lucky enough to get a picture with him and my favorite Weatherby rifle; my Dad’s Herb Klein myrtlewood .257. Then we all headed to lunch where we got to visit with Adam and Brenda even more. We could not be any more grateful and appreciative of them and all the time they gave us. It was truly a memorable trip and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We had so many other highlights on our trip, too many to mention in this article though. I’m especially excited that we gained 3 new board members and I look forward to working with them and hearing their new ideas. We had several groups of members come to their very first WCA convention and I think we even have them hooked for next year already (tentatively April 2nd, 2022 with the Wanenmacher’s Tulsa Gun Show). There was a lot of new energy in the group and that’s just what we need right now!
