The 2019 WCA Convention was a great success!
Here are some highlights and photos from the convention:
Scottie Hojer won the Founders Trophy for his display "Weatherby’s Critters".
Scottie Hojer also won the Outstanding Individual Item for his limited edition Chris Kyle commemorative Weatherby rifle.
John and David Duffy won the People's Choice award for their display "The Modern Day Weatherby: At the Range and in the Field".
Dick Witt displayed two commemorative rifles. One rifle was from the grand opening of the new Weatherby facility in Sheridan, Wyoming earlier this summer and the other was a Weatherby gold version Wyoming commemorative rifle.
Weatheby, Inc. also had a display with a one-of-a-kind custom Weatherby .257, a gold version Wyoming commemorative rifle, as well as 2 models of the new 18i Weatherby shotgun.
The WCA Youth Program Directors David Duffy and Scottie Hojer made a scholarship presentation to 2 past participants of the Youth Program for $1000 each. Congrats Bryttany and Jimmy!
Guest speaker Mike Glass (Weatherby Custom Shop Sales Manager) did a Q&A session with one of our board members, Sean Duffy, and also fielded questions from the audience. It was a very interesting and informative discussion. It was great having a guest from Weatherby in attendance!
There was a live and silent auction full of Weatherby items as well as other items “for anyone”. The raffle drawing was at the end of the evening where the 2 lucky winners of the new Weatherby rifles were announced.
The group went to Hunter’s Pointe on Friday afternoon and shot a round of sporting clays together. Despite the very warm weather, the group had a lot of fun and didn’t want to leave.
There was a group lunch on Friday where everyone met up for the first time to kick off the weekend and a member’s dinner and social later that evening. As you can see from the pictures, the venues were really neat and everyone enjoyed one another’s company, stories, the food, and a few drinks.
In between meetings, meals, and group activities, the members were able to explore the Sioux Falls area and enjoy some of the local attractions that are otherwise unavailable during the winter months of South Dakota when we have had past conventions at this location.
Thanks everyone for attending and we look forward to our 30th Anniversary convention next summer in Cody, Wyoming. Stay tuned for more details!
